  • The Stena Drilling 10k
  • The Conoco Phillips 5k
  • The Weatherford Secondary Schools 2.5k
  • The MTM Primary Schools 1.5k

Voted by Runners World as the most scenic race in Scotland, Run Balmoral offers a combination of stunning courses and magnificent views as the day’s racing takes you through the paths and trails that meander through the enchanting estate.

On Saturday 26th April 08 the Balmoral Estate gates will be flung wide open for runners and spectators from all over the UK to take part in what has become a loved and established flag ship event in the North East of Scotland.

Featuring a programme of racing starting with the primary schools event and culminating in the 10k, Run Balmoral offers challenges for a wide range of ages and abilities. The newly established 5k event and Secondary races make up the programme of running events which take competitors past the front of Balmoral castle to the finish line.

The centrepiece of the day is the 10k, when nearly 2,000 runners compete in the 10k race. Event with its long, steep hill in the middle, runners have nothing but praise for the race, which in Aug 07 featured on the BBC Adventure Show. Last year, Robert Russell, Central AC in a time of 31.23, broke the course record. Many know the 10k as the tartan 10k as prizes for the first kilted runners are hotly contested annually.

Numerous fringe events and picnics on the Royal lawn make this a fabulous day out for runners and spectators alike. Entry onto the Royal estate is free on race day for spectators and runners and it is anticipated that over 6,000 people from throughout the UK will converge on Balmoral. From corporate challenges to family days out this event is establishing itself as an annual event offering a truly memorable day.
