Run4It staff member Jenny, who works in our Inverness shop tells us about her favourite run...
Start: Nairn Golf Club
Finish: Nairn Golf Club
This run is almost completely flat and follows well surfaced paths and tracks. It takes in the stunning coastal scenery of Nairn, the majestic yachts at the harbour and the quiet tree-lined riverside. If you run early enough in the morning you may even see the odd dolphin or seal if you’re watching the water carefully enough!
Nairn Golf Club is situated on the seafront in the west end of Nairn. From the Golf Club car park, run along the seafront keeping the sea on your left. (If the tide is out you can run this section along the full length of the beach.) Follow the path along the length of the promenade and Nairn Links, until you reach the harbour. Cross the harbour to the Bailey Bridge on the other side of the marina. After crossing the bridge take a sharp right onto the riverside path.
Follow the riverside path all the way up to the Firhall Bridge (passing two other footbridges along the way.) The Firhall bridge is signposted as such and is the only bridge with narrow steps on either side. Turn right after crossing the bridge and follow the path down the opposite side of the river until you reach the Jubilee bridge. Cross the bridge and turn left, following the path until you arrive back at the Bailey Bridge. From here you can run back along the seafront, past the harbour, Nairn Links and the promenade before finally arriving back at the Golf Club car park.
