For Autumn/Winter 2009/10, GORE RUNNING WEAR™ presents the outstanding redesigned SYSTEM Jacket. This uses the new generation of GORE™ comfort mapping technology, which offers numerous options in terms of functionality and design. Clemens Deilmann, designer for GORE RUNNING WEAR™, describes the novel features and the advantages of the new SYSTEM Jacket.
What exactly is the new generation comfort mapping?
It’s a new laminating method in which lining fabric with different properties is subsequently applied to a special GORE-TEX® laminate. The design is more adaptable, and at the same time the needs of the body’s individual climate zones can be catered to more specifically and efficiently: warmth regulation, an accurate fit, ventilation, breathability and wearing comfort are optimised precisely where they are most needed.
What advantages does the new comfort mapping in the SYSTEM Jacket provide specifically for running, and how is the technology implemented?
In the outer material, extremely light GORE-TEX® Performance Shell with good stretch properties is used. This means that fewer seams and cuts are necessary, which significantly improves the fit and freedom of movement when running. In the inner part of the jacket, lining fabric with different properties is optimally adapted to the zones of the body. There are “Warmth”, “Comfort” and “Vent” sections which integrate the lightest materials available on the market featuring the desired performance. The challenge in the “Warmth” zone, for example, was to obtain exactly the desired warmth with the lightest possible material. In the lady’s model, the cut and lining are adapted to suit the female anatomy and physiological requirements.
All in all, for the runner, this means a better fit and greater wearing comfort in extremely lightweight material, as well as rapid wicking away of moisture, warmth and ventilation exactly where it is needed.
Which runners and applications was the SYSTEM Jacket designed for?
Thanks to the GORE-TEX® Performance Shell, the SYSTEM Jacket is completely waterproof, wind-proof and breathable. It is therefore suitable for ambitious runners who don’t want to miss out on their usual running session even when it is raining or snowing, or at temperatures between 0 and 15°C.
