Organiser: Gary Gutteridge / Cosmic Hillbashers. This race is held in Stonehaven just out the Slug Road, on the way to Banchory. The start is just before the first narrow bridge about 1 mile beyond the A90 flyover. Grid Ref. NO 843883. It is 6.5 km (4 miles) in distance and is run on paths round the woods and is very like a cross country race. Ascent: 740 ft Category BS. Maps of the routes will be available on the day and hopefully posted on the Cosmics website (www.cosmics.org.uk) Entry is £2.50 per race or £8 for the whole series. The 10K Road Race starts at 2.30pm within the Stadium and also finishes on the Stadium running track. If several runners are travelling to the race together, then some assistance may be given to their travelling expenses. The Royal 'family games' run from around 10am till 6pm. The prizegiving takes place around 5.30pm, and is followed by the Parade of the Massed Bands down through the town to the Ferry Terminal. A magnificent hand carved trophy is awarded to the overall winner of the Heavy events. Gifted by the Duke of Rothesay (HRH Prince Charles) in 2000. There are 100m, 200m and 800m for under 13, 15 and 17 years males and females. There are also Junior and Senior Heavyweight Championships and also wrestling within a full traditional Highland Games programme.

Distance: 10K. Event open to ages 15+. The race begins at the North End of Skye, near the beautiful and famous Quiraing, and finishes in the village of Uig where refreshments will be provided. Transport is provided to the Quiraing (where the race starts) from the hall in Uig, or runners can be transported back to collect their own cars. Its a relatively 'easy' run (good for PB's), and very scenic - its where some of the outdoor filming was done for 'Stardust'. It is a 10am registration at Uig Hall, for an 11am race start. The race is part of the annual Gala Day.
