Nike React Infinity Run Flyknit

The original Nike React Infinity Run Flyknit was created with the aim and ambition of reducing the likelihood of running injury. The approach taken by Nike was to commission the British Columbia Sports Medicine Research Foundation to conduct a study with 226 participants embarking on a 12 week half marathon training plan in either prototypes of the original model of this shoe or another established Nike model. The results of this study showed that runners were significantly less prone to missing training days through muscle soreness when wearing the newer shoe. As the first Nike ‘everyday’ shoe to incorporate a rocker-shaped midsole design, the original model introduced a running experience which protected the legs from the effects of fatigue while still feeling propulsive. When combining the midsole design geometry with the incredibly durable React midsole foam, the underfoot feeling delivered was like nothing Nike had come up with before and it proved a hit with runners everywhere. The learnings from that original study have continued to inform the evolution of the shoe, bringing us to the present day with the React Infinity RunFlyknit 3. The latest version of the shoe retains its broad base and holistic support mechanism to ensure it delivers support and stability when required to a wide range of runners.
