Advice for Road Runners: The Nike Air Zoom Pegasus 38 Shield in the Black/Platinum Tint/Dark Smoke Grey colourway uses the same responsive midsole foam as the ‘standard’ Pegasus 38. Nike React foam is lightweight, durable and springy. This provides better cushioning, but without the bulk. This shoe also features a Zoom Air unit that is closer to your foot for responsiveness.

This Shield version uses a different upper and outsole construction and is designed to provide added protection and grip in cold or wet conditions. To reduce water ingress, the upper is coated with a PFC-free water-repellent treatment, the tongue is gusseted and the toe area is reinforced with an additional skin. The fabric of the upper and the inside of the tongue also provides greater insulation. The Storm-Tread outsole provides added traction and is inspired by Winter car tyres. With water-shedding micro grooves and multidirectional shapes, the outsole ensures maximum levels of grip on wet surfaces.

The Air Zoom Pegasus 38 Shield has a wider forefoot with more space for your toes, while maintaining the comfortable Pegasus fit. The construction in the midfoot provides a snug fit when the laces are tightened.

Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone's feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles. Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb's width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes). This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
