Advice for Road Runners: The Nike Men's Air Zoom Pegasus 40 benefits from four decades of evolution. The Pegasus 40 includes a number of updates that help it progress from the benefits offered by the popular Pegasus 39.
The midsole of the Pegasus 40 is the same midsole that featured in the Pegasus 39. However, if you never ran in the Pegasus 39, you may want to know that the midsole contains two Zoom Air units - with one in the forefoot and one in the heel. It also uses React foam. The combination of Zoom Air units and React Foam creates a cushioned, yet responsive experience.
This is where the updates kick in. The upper on the Pegasus 40 includes the following updates:
The purpose of all three updates was to create an upper that is more comfortable, more breathable, and able to accommodate more foot shapes in comparison with the Pegasus 39.
The Nike Men's Air Zoom Pegasus 40 is a neutral running shoe, and should be well suited to daily training miles. As mentioned, it offers a cushioned, yet responsive running experience. This should help you to get the most out of your steady to moderately paced runs.
Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone's feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.
Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb's width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).
This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
The technical features above are based on a men's US size 10 shoe.
