Underfoot Feel
The Nike Ultrafly has a carbon Flyplate layered between ZoomX foam and a knit fabric-wrapped midsole. ZoomX is soft and provides a lot of cushioning and energy return. The inclusion of a carbon Flyplate results in a propulsive underfoot feel that should help you to build and maintain your pace.
Of course, it's not all about the cushioning. The outsole matters too. Helpfully, Nike added a Vibram outsole with a sticky rubber. The chevron lug pattern provides traction when you're going uphill and downhill, even in wet weather.
From a stability perspective, a flat bottom and minimised cross rocker provides stability on off-road terrain, while the heel-to-toe rocker helps to create a smooth transition.
Upper Fit
In the midfoot, you'll find engineered zones of support. The Vaporweave mesh provides breathability in the upper.
The design of the upper compliments the midsole and outsole design. It should support you to go at your faster pace on trail terrain.
