What to wear when running a marathon? Though the answer to that question is very much dependent on the weather and your running goal, technical running clothing and socks are unquestionably essential items for comfort and enjoyment through the training and racing miles. Lightweight layers made from breathable, moisture-wicking materials work best to keep your body cool and dry in summer and warm in winter. Twin (or 2 in 1) shorts are particularly popular for marathon training as they prevent chafing over longer distances and allow you to carry gels. Great options exist in our range, including the shorts in our Ronhill Best for the Longer Runs collection. Light and airy t-shirts and split shorts are ideal for training and racing in warm weather conditions. Great options exist in our range, including very cool options from Nike featuring Nike's signature Dri-FIT Technology. While leggings, long-sleeve tops and running jackets are wardrobe staples for winter training - allowing you to train in comfort in cold, windy and wet weather conditions. Clothing sorted, don’t neglect your feet! Running socks made of synthetic fabrics will prevent blisters and keep your feet comfortable and dry. Traditional cotton socks hold moisture in, essentially wrapping the foot in wet fabric, instead of allowing moisture to move away, which increases the risk of blisters, infection and hot spots. Popular favourites in our range include the Hilly Twin Skin, a double layer design that minimises friction. And Hilly Marathon Fresh, which due the anti-bacterial treatment Polygiene, keeps your feet fresh and odour free for longer.
