WELCOME TO RUN4IT EDINBURGH

 

Inspiring people to improve their fitness, health and wellbeing through running.

 

At Run4It we see running as a force for good, an accessible sport capable of inspiring people from all walks of life to feel and be their best and achieve great things.

 

Our teams, both in the shops and online, aim to help runners of all levels and interests improve their running experience, through providing the best possible range of products, coupled with great customer service.

 

Run4It Edinburgh is no exception and since opening in 2005, has helped thousands of runners to find their running shoes, while creating lasting links with the local running and fitness community. Thanks to support from within our local community, we have won awards at the National Running Awards for the past 5 years, in both the Customer Service and Independent Retailer categories.

 

When it comes to gear, we’ve got you covered! We stock an extensive range of road and trail running shoes from leading and emerging brands including adidas, Altra, ASICS, Brooks, HOKA, Inov8, New Balance, Nike, Salomon & Saucony. To accompany our footwear range, we have a great range of running clothing that ticks all the boxes for comfort, performance and style, together with a wide variety of running accessories including GPS watches, headphones, nutrition, socks, hats, gloves, and more. Brands including Ronhill, Nike & 2XU make up our clothing range, whilst others including AfterShokz, Goodr, Garmin, Hilly, Feetures, Petzl, Ronhill and Torq make up our accessories range.

We offer a free video analysis and shoe fitting service called +runlab in-store and can guide you on which running shoes are best suited to your needs and goals. To save you waiting, we recommend booking an appointment for our +runlab service online at run4it.com/book.

 

The Team

Emma, our Shop Manager, and her team are real enthusiasts with a breadth of knowledge stretching from track, road and trail running, to gym work and jogging, to racing events and triathlons, and not forgetting coaching, strength & conditioning and nutrition! Run4It Run Club Edinburgh

Join our free running club offering weekly group runs from the shop every Monday at 6pm, along with ad hoc brand demo events. All Run Club participants must be over the age of 18 and must complete the Run Club Registration Agreement before attending Run Club Events. Meet the team

Emma Burton
Shop Manager

Emma joined the Run4It team in October 2017 and has been manager since February 2018. She studied Zoology at university and enjoyed running for fun during this time, taking part in 5k and 10k races. After uni, whilst working in retail, she took up longer distance running completing numerous half marathons in the UK and the Edinburgh Marathon in 2015. London Marathon in 2019 is the highlight of her running career to date!

François Gaudas
Assistant Manager

Former black belt of judo, François-Xavier (aka FX) started running after an ankle surgery in 2008 and likes to think of himself as a human Labrador.  He first started with half-marathons and quickly moved on to ultras finishing his first 100km in Millau, near Montpellier, at the age of 22. He has completed many others up to 100 miles across different countries ever since.  FX moved to Edinburgh in 2017 after 6 years working as a journalist for Runner’s World in France and is still very much into ultra-running. His ultimate goal is to compete at the Spartathlon one day, a 246km-road-race between Athens and Sparta.

Assistant Manager

Scarlett joined the Run4It team in October 2021 after moving to Edinburgh. Having always loved hiking, Scarlett began running in 2016 as a way to further increase her time outdoors. She primarily enjoys trail events in the ultra distances, but is happy to plod along anywhere scenic. She's looking forward to using trail running as a means to continue to explore different areas in Scotland and abroad.

Dominic Pilkington
Team Member

Dom joined Run4It in March 2022 and is currently in his second year at the University of Edinburgh, studying Applied Sports Science. He started running by competing in fun runs as a kid and soon joined his local athletics club, racing 800m and cross country. Since coming to uni, Dom has joined the university triathlon team, and has focused more on longer distance races including the Edinburgh Half Marathon in 2022 and Outlaw X, a Middle Distance Triathlon. He hopes to do a full Ironman Distance Triathlon in the future.

Sophie Whittaker Young
Team Member

Sophie joined the team in September 2022 and is in her first year at Edinburgh University studying Social Policy and Politics. Thanks to being brought up in a house of athletes, Sophie has been running since she was little alongside other sports like gymnastics and hockey. Now, she focuses on racing 5k and 10k but has her sights set on longer distances like the marathon in the future! Her favourite run of the week is a long run early on a Sunday with her dog, Skye.

James Beaumont
Team Member

James joined the Run4It team in January 2023 and is in his first year studying Linguistics at the University of Edinburgh. He started running in school, competing in cross country and athletics events. More recently he has found running to be a great way to benefit mental health and wellbeing, while also being a great way to spend time with friends. With a generally sporty attitude to things, he also enjoys it as a way to keep fit for other sports, mainly climbing and cycling. He generally focuses on 5k's, but is keen to try something longer.

Adam joined Run4It in January 2024 and is studying Philosophy at Edinburgh University. He started running 5 years ago after placing poorly in his school sports day 800m and quickly fell in love with the sport as his times got faster and his training volume increased. He now runs with Falkirk Victoria Harriers and races any distance from the 800m to 10k in both track and cross country. He has aspirations of joining his university performance team and achieving a sub 15 minute 5km. Apart from running Adam also enjoys cold water swimming as a way to improve his mental health and toughness.

Tom Craig
Team Member

Tom joined the Run4It team in October 2023 after moving up to Edinburgh to study an MSc in Physiotherapy. As a teenager he ran track and field primarily 400m hurdles for Gateshead Harriers at national level but since graduating has found running longer 5/10 km's to be massively beneficial for both his fitness and feeling better in himself. Tom also enjoys surfing, paddleboarding and sea swimming which he does in his home town of Tynemouth.

Wil Jones
Team Member

Wil began running in 2021 and started his journey by picking up his first pair of running shoes at Run4It. Since then he has become an active member of the Edinburgh University Hare and Hounds whilst he finishes up his PhD studies. His favourite discipline is cross country but also has experience racing on the road (anywhere between 5k to half marathon) and trails. Aside from running, Wil's other hobbies include fishing, hiking, road cycling, squash and golf.

Lisa Menzies
Team Member

Lisa joined Run4it in April 2024, having previously worked as a tour guide, and has been running since her teens. She enjoys taking part in half marathons including the Great North Run and the Great Manchester run. She plans to run the Big Half Marathon in London this September. Running the Edinburgh Marathon in 2022 for Target Ovarian Cancer, in memory of her Gran, has been her biggest running accomplishment to date. Lisa hopes to return to full running fitness soon, after suffering from Long Covid.

Team Member

Laura joined the Run4it team in May 2024 when she moved to Edinburgh. She graduated last year with a degree in Sociology and has always enjoyed running. As a teenager she competed in athletics and cycling then moved to long distance running during university. In 2023, Laura ran the Edinburgh marathon and in 2024 ran the Copenhagen marathon. Her favourite races are marathons because they create such a motivational atmosphere and everyone is celebrating their hard work. She's now training for a sub 4 hour marathon in Lisbon. She also enjoys playing badminton and tennis and would like to get into triathlons.

Arran Williams
Team Member

Arran joined the Run4It team in May 2024. He has a passion for ultra-endurance challenges and finds joy in pushing limits and embracing the adventure of each run. Recently, his training focus has been on continuous ultra marathons over 100 miles, but he still enjoys frequently competing in shorter trail and road races for fun. Arran is also a certified Ultra Running and Wellbeing Coach who uses his love for running to transform the wellbeing of others. When not running, Arran enjoys climbing, surfing, meditating, playing the ukulele, and taking daily dips in the sea.

Caspar Pourandi
Team Member

Caspar joined the Run4it team in May 2024, and has an LLB with Politics degree, and is currently completing a LLM in Commercial Law from the University of Edinburgh. Caspar has been a keen runner from a young age, competing for his school in Norway in the 400-metre sprints. He enjoys running and exercising of all sorts, and completed the Edinburgh 2024 Marathon. His dream is to achieve a Boston qualifying time or complete Marathon Des Sables.

Christian Graham
Team Member

Christian joined the Run4It team in June of 2024 on return home from the United States where he is studying a Masters of Business Administration at Boise State University. Christian is a student-athlete in Division 1 of the NCAA, competing for Boise State’s Track and Cross Country team. Prior to Boise State, Christian studied his undergraduate degree at the University of Dundee where he competed for his club, Lasswade AC, as well as representing Scotland internationally on multiple occasions in both U23 and senior categories. After moving to the US, Christian finally broke the 14 minute barrier in the 5000m, something he has been working towards for over 5 years; it was the most monumental moment of his running career so far.

The Run Club meets at the Run4It Edinburgh shop every Monday at 6pm for a 6.15pm run and offers varied training sessions such as steady runs, interval sessions or hill repeats. We have supported the Musselburgh 10K race for quite a few years now and have watched a popular race go from strength to strength. The club welcomes runners of all abilities from Musselburgh, East Lothian and Edinburgh.

This is an event run every April at Dalkeith Country Park in support of MYPAS - Promoting the health and wellbeing of young people in Midlothian. The 5K, 10K and 1K junior races are getting bigger every year, due to the beautiful course, the fact it is for a great cause and the unique handmade medals made out of wood!
