Amy found running in 2017 as part of a health and fitness overhaul in her life. She slowly progressed to 10ks, and half marathons. Her training goals now focus around competing in the fitness racing competition, Hyrox. You can find her lifting weights in the gym, taking part in CrossFit sessions, and at Run4It Glasgow City's excellent (and sweaty) interval session on Monday nights.
After a 21 year career in insurance, Scott joined Run4It in 2010 and remains with us to this day! He splits his time between being part of the management team in our Glasgow City store and creating content for our website. He’s also the company shoe guru (owning a ridiculously large shoe collection!) and has responsibility for the shoe range you see in our stores and on our website. If it doesn’t get Scott’s approval, we don’t stock it! A font of knowledge across the Glasgow and wider running scene, he’s an accomplished racer and a qualified endurance coach. Scott also leads the training group from our Glasgow City store on Monday evenings and loves using his expertise to help others improve their running, whatever their ability or experience.
Simon initially discovered running as part of his weight loss journey on the treadmill. His joy of running has continued from there - although he now prefers more scenic routes in the Ayrshire countryside. He is always in search of the best view - scrabbling up hills or hiking on holiday (with a well earned icy dip in the Atlantic afterward). He has jumped at the opportunity to come back and work in sports retail. Simon is now looking forward to helping others progress with their fitness ambitions, but most importantly, finding that same enjoyment in running.
Paul returned to Run4It after 18 months of being primary carer for his son having previously worked with the company for 3 years in a management role. Paul has well over 20 years of specialist sports and outdoor retail experience. This experience means he'll happily and confidently help you with your running needs. His time in outdoor retail gives him a fantastic understanding of clothing material technologies and he can help you choose the perfect clothing to enhance your running experience whatever the Scottish weather throws at you!
Calum has been running competitively for local club Bellahouston Harriers since 2014. He has participated in a variety of different disciplines ranging from 1500m to cross country events across Scotland - even completing a half marathon this year.
Ben grew up in Southern Africa and started running in secondary school, inspired by the great Kenyan runners. He now enjoys training and racing with the University of Glasgow Hare & Hounds, mostly over longer distances - anything from 5k's to Ultra Marathons. His favourite thing to do is get out of the city and spend a couple of hours running on mountain trails. Ben also competes in Triathlons and is training to achieve his professional racing licence - though he assures us that running is absolutely his favourite of the three disciplines!
Jay joined the team in May 2024 and is a former cyclist turned runner, you will find him training for a variety of disciplines throughout the year from cross country, to track and road races. Jay has previously trained with athletics clubs in Auckland and Melbourne, although his favourite part of running is a social run followed up with a coffee stop.
Having picked up running in the last two years, Orla primarily identifies as a recreational runner. Despite this, she has trained for a few organised events covering a range of distances, from 5k to the marathon. As she is currently undertaking a psychology doctorate, she is excited to apply this knowledge in a running context, specifically surrounding the importance of a healthy approach to running. Orla is eager to promote the accessibility of running, particularly by encouraging others to get involved regardless of their exercise history!
Lucy has participated in many charity running events as a child with her family and has since developed a love for the atmosphere of the crowded city on race day. It is her belief that the support of those strangers cheering you on forms a running community like no other. She loves that the Glasgow crowds and incredible volunteers make running a sport for everyone! Lucy is enjoying the progression from 5k to 10k road running and is studying radiography at university – hoping to avoid seeing any runners in the X-ray department! Lucy also has a varied skill set which includes aerial silks and trapeze as well as weightlifting.
The Run Club meets for interval training at the Run4It Glasgow City shop every Monday at 5.30pm (bag drop) for 5.45pm run. The sessions are free and all runners (18 or over) are welcome. Before attending Run Club Events, all participants must complete the Run Club Registration Agreement
The sessions are designed to cater for ALL abilities, so whether it’s the first time you’ve dipped your toe into this kind of stuff or you’re a regular intervals runner, you’ll reap the rewards of your hard work and, most importantly, improve your running!

We are often told that the difference between us and other shops is our people. We think they are just the best. Each team member goes through a period of induction, training and assessment no matter what the job is. Over the years we have invested a load not just in the training but also in ensuring that we are giving the team the very best possible terms and conditions we can – it’s even written down in our business values.
