Underfoot Feel

The HOKA Clifton 9 GTX outsole features Durabrasion rubber with weather-ready traction pods. This means it enhances grip on slippery surfaces and performs better than the standard model in wet weather. 

As the midsole of the GTX edition is the same as the standard Clifton 9, you can expect the same protective and padded underfoot feel. HOKA's signature Meta-Rocker technology rolls your feet forward and takes the stress of your calf muscles. Particularly beneficial if you fatigue in the later stages of a run. 

Upper Fit

The upper of the HOKA Clifton 9 GTX features GORE-TEX Invisible Fit. This is completely waterproof and doesn't affect the fit. You will notice some extra weight with the waterproof upper over the standard model. However, the grippier outsole and waterproof upper only adds 30 grams of weight over the standard model. 

If you don't know, HOKA only converts the women's size from US to UK by one and a half. Most running brands convert it by two full sizes. We recommend choosing your normal US running shoe size.

Ideal Run Conditions

In case it's not clear, the HOKA Women's Clifton 9 GTX running shoes are perfect for wet weather runs. This is due to the waterproof upper and extra grip. If you want your feet to stay dry in the rain, we highly recommend these. 

Grip on pavements and streets can be compromised in wet weather. As the outsole of the HOKA Clifton 9 GTX features traction pods, you should be more confident in these conditions. 

We also recommend the HOKA Clifton 9 GTX running shoes for walking. Why? It's because they'll keep your feet warm and dry. The rocker midsole is also exceptionally comfortable for long walks.

Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone's feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.

Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb's width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).

This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
