The original Brooks Ghost Max launched with a number of unique design features that set them apart from other Brooks running shoes, and the style proved to be popular with runners. Late-summer of 2024 sees the launch of the second edition of this style - the Ghost Max 2. The updated style has a midsole of Brooks’ nitrogen-infused DNA LOFT v3 cushioning. As a reminder, the midsole of the original Brooks Ghost Max had a midsole of Brooks’ DNA LOFT v2 cushioning. DNA LOFT v3 cushioning should deliver softer cushioning and increased energy return. Contrary to what the name implies, it would be incorrect to think of the Ghost Max 2 as being just a max-cushioned version of the ever-popular Brooks Ghost. Apart from the fact that they both share Brooks’ DNA LOFT v3 cushioning, the shoes are very different. The Ghost Max 2 Running Shoes have a higher stacked midsole, and a much lower drop (6mm) than the Ghost 16. The Ghost Max 2 also have a broad base with raised sidewalls, which offers inherent stability for a secure feel. All this combined, the Brooks Ghost Max 2 should be stable neutral running shoes that help you to transition from landing to toe-off with ease. They are likely to be best suited to slower run and steady run days. And they should feel particularly helpful and forgiving if you have tight calf muscles and/or restricted movement at the ankle joint. It's worth noting the broad base and unique liner last mean the Ghost Max 2 are a great option for insoles and orthotics.
