The popular HOKA Arahi stability running shoes have been updated with a new upper for the seventh edition. If you’ve been running in the Arahi 6 running shoes, you should be able to transition into the Arahi 7 with ease. This is because the midsole is the same and the upper should fit in a similar fashion. Updates to the Arahi 7 upper include: a flat knit design, plusher tongue, and tongue gussets. This should deliver a softer and more comfortable fit, with better midfoot lockdown. The tongue gussets prevent the tongue from slipping to one side. They should also improve the sensation of support in the midfoot. As mentioned, they should fit very similarly to the previous edition. The HOKA Arahi are crowd-pleasers because they offer great cushioning and support, in a lightweight construction. While more supportive running shoes can often feel heavier, the Arahi 7 breaks the mould. This lightweight feel is down to the compression molded EVA foam. Support is delivered by HOKA’s Active Foot Frame technology and patented J-Frame support. A denser section of foam (shaped like the letter J) runs up the medial section of the midsole. This offers extra arch support and should reduce greater ranges of pronation. We recommend running in the HOKA Arahi 7 on your easy to steady paced runs. In addition to the protective cushioning, the midsole features HOKA’s signature Meta-Rocker technology. This curved heel-to-toe geometry rolls your feet forward at landing and smooths out transitions. This technology also has the added benefit of helping reduce the load on your lower leg area. As a result, the Arahi 7 should be excellent options for longer distances, or on days when your leg muscles might feel tight. It’s for these reasons we position the Arahi in our Float Experience category. Additionally, HOKA’s unique Meta-Rocker technology is recognised by the Royal College of Podiatry as being beneficial for walking, as it promotes forward movement.
