Underfoot Feel
The midsole is protective, but - compared to many other trail running shoes - it is relatively low profile. This means that you will be very aware of what your feet are doing and how they are adapting to uneven ground.
There should be a strong connection between your feet and the underfoot conditions. However, a StoneGuard™ will prevent sharp stones and rocks from pressing into your feet.
From a traction perspective, the well-established MaxTrack™ outsole is grippy and sticky.
Upper Fit
The roomy toe box will allow lots of room for your toes to splay. There should be very little chance of your feet being compressed in these shoes.
The upper of has had a significant update in comparison to the Lone Peak 7. The refined upper provides increased durability.
Ideal Run Type
The Altra Men's Lone Peak 8 Running Shoes are best for trail runs that truly are trail runs. They will perform best on the trails and may not be as comfortable as other options on sections of road. However, when you are trail running, they should help you to run with confidence on challenging terrains.

Sizing Advice
Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone's feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.
Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb's width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).
This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
