Advice for Track Runners: The HOKA Unisex Crescendo XC Spikes are a great value option for cross country racers. These entry-level cross country running spikes are light, durable, grippy and comfortable.
The HOKA Crescendo XC Spikes features a CMEVA midsole. This is a lightweight foam that delivers good cushioning. As the stack height is 27 mm to 21 mm, they should feel protective underfoot.
A grippy outsole features a 6-pin spike plate. We know how challenging cross-country courses can be, these should keep you powering up and down hills. The adaptable rubber outsole increases durability too.
The HOKA Crescendo XC Spikes are a unisex fit. The upper is a single layer mesh. This means they feel light and the fabric dries quickly. While we know this might not happen in between water crossings in a race, they should dry off quickly after the event.
An anatomical tongue construction creates great midfoot lockdown and hold.
The HOKA Unisex Crescendo XC Spikes are perfect for racing cross country races. That's because they feel cushioned for longer distance runs. They're also very grippy and perform on wet and muddy courses.
We recommend using dedicated XC Spikes on cross country courses as opposed to track running spikes. This is because XC Spikes are more durable and grippy, particularly on boggy terrain. You may encounter sections of firmer ground on cross country courses. The thicker cushioned XC Spikes feel more comfortable on this terrain.
Note that spikes are designed to be snug and secure, limiting lateral movement while providing drive onto the running surface. They are manufactured quite small in comparison to road or trail running shoes. To ensure a secure fit and optimum performance, we recommend your spikes being at least a full size bigger than your regular shoe size.
