Most runners want good protection for slower to steady paced runs, but not everyone likes a soft underfoot feel. That's because some prefer to feel more connected to the midsole and want the shoe to respond when they pick up the pace.
The Mizuno Wave Rider 27 features a Mizuno Enerzy midsole with a PEBAX Wave Plate. This combination of materials feels protective and responsive. While the impact of landing is being reduced by the cushioned midsole, you'll enjoy a propulsive and lively sensation. Ideal for when you're mixing you your paces. To keep you stable, the walls of the midsole wrap up around the sides of your feet.
For runners who like a secure ankle hold in their running shoes, the Mizuno Wave Rider 27 is a great choice. That's because the latest version has been updated with Adapted Heel Counter. This technology holds your heel bone in the optimal position to maximise comfort.
Even though the upper has a gusset tongue which holds the midfoot, the forefoot area feels spacious. While there's specific wide-fitting running shoes stocked at Run4It, we recommend the Mizuno Wave Rider for runners with broader feet. 3D PU Print overlays keep the weight down and increase support.
At Run4It, we recommend choosing soft feeling running shoes for slower paced runs. However, you may find you it hard to pick up your speed in soft running shoes. The Mizuno Men's Wave Rider 27 is a great option for slow and steady paced runs. While these won't feel overly soft underfoot, they'll feel protective at slow efforts and responsive when you pick up the pace.
We think the Wave Rider 27 is one of the most versatile road running shoes. It genuinely feels good over a range of paces and distances.
Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone's feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.
Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb's width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).
This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
