Underfoot Feel
Comfort becomes even more important as the distance of a run increases. The Salomon Ultra Glide 2 features a highly protective Energy Foam midsole compound. This should feel soft and padded underfoot.
It doesn't stop there. The Ultra Glide 2 also boasts Salomon's signature Reverse Camber Geometry. This means the midsole is curved from heel to toe. As a result, the transition from landing to toe-off should feel very smooth. Additionally, your calf muscles shouldn't have to work as hard.
Finally, Profeel film stops sharp objects penetrating the midsole foam. Perfect for rocky terrain.
Upper Fit
With a lightweight, flexible and durable mesh upper, the Ultra Glide 2 should stand up to the test of demanding trails. Salomon's signature Quicklace system improves midfoot hold and distributes pressure evenly across the top of your feet. The excess lace stores away in a pouch on the tongue.
Ideal Run Type
As the Salomon Men's Ultra Glide 2 trail running shoes features 3.5 mm lugs and lots of cushioning, they're perfect for long distance trail runs. We also suggest opting for these on trail runs that includes lots of hard packed ground. That's because the rocker geometry should feel smooth underfoot. The lugs are also likely to be less noticeable than deeper lugged options.
Shoe size is a personal preference and everyone's feet are different, but we want to ensure you avoid any pain or discomfort from bruised toenails, rubbing, blistering or pins and needles.
Your running shoes should have enough width to allow you to spread your toes and should have some space at the front (we recommend having a half to one thumb's width of space from the end of your longest toe to the front of your running shoes).
This usually means that your running shoe will be at least a half size bigger than your regular shoe size though this can vary from brand to brand.
